About Us

The founders of People Donate are old friends who are young enough to still make a difference.  Tricia Meyer and I met while attending Castle Junior High School in Newburgh, IN.  We were fast friends and shared many common interests:  music, drama, hanging with friends and boys.  Lifelong “joiners”, we even joined the Science Academy in an effort to enhance our education and meet boys.  Ok, mostly to meet boys but I do remember an aluminum can drive we helped organize.  It quickly got bigger than we anticipated and we spent hours upon hours smashing and packaging cans to recycle.

As we moved onto Castle High School, we took on leadership roles in several activities and always seemed to end up coordinating yet another way to raise money.  Whether selling candy bars, working a car wash or taking donations for some “a-thon”, we always seemed to be hitting someone up for something.  While raising money to attend theatre camp at Ball State University (our future college home), Tricia had an idea to create and distribute a coupon book.  We raised enough money to sponsor ourselves to camp just by selling ad space in our free handout.

College brought new friends and new interests but allowed us to share bonds of friendship from our teenage years.  We were roommates for 3 years at Ball State until Tricia moved on law school at Indiana University.  After my graduation, I moved to Chicago to pursue life and a career in the big city.  Tricia and her high school sweetheart soon married and settled in Indianapolis.  They had two beautiful daughters, built strong careers and an even stronger marriage.  While in Chicago, I took on a career in Corporate Recruiting and met my husband, Neal.  Tricia was an attendant at our wedding as I had been in hers although our lives had kept us from spending much time together during those years following college.

In late 2005, expecting our first daughter, Neal and I took an opportunity to start anew in Indianapolis.  It wasn’t until we had already purchased a new home that I called to share the news with Tricia.  Although it took some time to get reacquainted, we quickly picked up where we had left off and found that we still shared many of the same interests.  Through conversation on those interests and skills gained through our career tracks, we came up with the idea for People Donate.

People Donate is an opportunity for lifelong friends, “joiners” and fundraisers to develop a platform for philanthropists to utilize online resources to accomplish their goals.  Whether you’re planning a specific campaign or have ongoing fundraising needs, People Donate will partner with your organization to develop an online presence and create a campaign that suits your needs.  We look forward to sharing successes with you.
